Sh*t My Dad Says

Where do I even start on this one? This has been one helluva book! helluva!
So freaking hilarious!
It starts with the author (Justin Halpern) moving back in with his folks when
he breaks up with his girlfriend. There he reunites with his mother and of course
his dad who says a lot of sh*t, like the title mentions.
The books jumps around going from random quotes on certain situations...
ie. - ON BREAKING THE NEIGHBOR'S WINDOW FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A YEAR
" What in the hell is the matter with you? This the third time!
You know, at this point I think it's the neighbor's fault...
No not really, it's your f***ing fault, I'm just in denial
right now that my DNA was somehow involved in something this
stupid."

see, that's one of the random quotes, the certain situations are like short
stories that explain why Sam Halpern (The Dad) say some of most obnoxious,
profane, and hilarious things. In addition to the humor I like how you can
learn something form this book. Like, don't ditch your dad on a gardening
date for a stupid girl you like and who just happened to break up with her boyfriend and for some random reason wants to go to mexico. Touching stuff haha.

but all in all this book flew by for me and it certainly has been one of the
best entertainments I've ever had, I don't think there is another book out there
that would make me laugh as hard as this one did. Props to you Justin, and to your
dad too.

Some samples...

ON MY BLOODY NOSE
"What happened? Did somebody punch you in the face?!... The what? The air is dry? Do me a favor and tell people you got punched in the face."

ON THE MEDICINAL EFFECT OF BACON
"You worry too much. Eat some bacon... What? No, I got no idea if it'll make you feel better, I just made too much bacon."

No one belongs here more than you

One day during the summer I was looking for a book, I needed a new
read. Then after scrolling through books, reading reviews and so on
I came across this book... it had such a beautiful name I couldn't
pass up. So I finally got the book and started reading it...

The books itself is aesthetically pleasing actually, a very plain
yellow paper cover and it was very thin... it's only like 150 pages
or something. However there is a Korean proverb that translates
"even little peppers can be very hot"... this book would fall into
that proverb.

When you look at the cover of this book, you may think that it would
be a quick and easy read... it is however not. I'm still working on
understanding everything that goes on in this book, there's so much
...idk, room? to imagine and think of things, some stories with parts
untold. It's harder for me to understand the concept of the stories,
but this could be because I've never fallen "In love" haha.

The language however is beautiful, when she's describing some parts
of the stories, it flows and you can see what she's imagining and putting
into words. These parts I do enjoy reading.

Despite the hype and the positive reviews, I'm not enthralled by it ...yet,
I may have some more understanding or critical thinking to do but not I'm
not on this bandwagon yet...

hoping to update soon.

My opinion on Millennium Trilogy

This trilogy was so freaking epic, I didn't even know what to do... yea, it was that good.

Full of suspense, action (oddly plenty of sex too), and out-of-freaking-nowhere-gigantunormous twists... The Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest) has been a great read. The series posthumously published by Stieg Larsson (a political activist/journalist known for exposing neo-nazi activities) has definitely lived up to its hype.

Even though it portrays hackers to be good guys(or in this case girl), journalists to be people who get laid with every attractive person in the world, women as strong-willed unfortunate victims of assault, and men as power-drooling corrupt sex/violence-hungry stalker demons ... it was still a very very good read.

You've been warned... you pick this book up and you won't be able to put it down until you pass out or something like that.
